Chess Association-Kerala (CAK), in a statement in Kozhikode on Friday, said that the State Government and the Sports Council have not recognised the achievements of Kerala’s first Grandmaster G.N. Gopal, who won the gold medal on the fourth board at the recent Asian team championship in Visakhapatanam.
CAK said Gopal required the services of a foreign coach but it involved huge expenses. CAK further said that Gopal’s exploits has inspired many a new young talent in Kerala.
“It is good to know that CAK has come out in support of me now,”” said Gopal. It may be recalled that the CAK, not so long ago, had threatened to take action against Gopal for his remarks against a few CAK officials.
